Seamless operation

The master controller for data acquisition.

Special Bluetooth Low Energy protocols enable sensor insole control and loss-free data transmission with low power usage.

The mobile device works as a hub and passes on measurement data to the endpoint computer via a WiFi network connection.

Live data previews

Foot dynamics
in real time.

Various live data widgets allow you to keep track of foot dynamics while a subject is moving. Include graphs, audio or tactile information to create biofeedback for your training intervention and record high resolution sensor data simultaneously.

Data acquisition made easy

The right settings for your task.

Access all relevant settings from one single screen. Adjust the record mode, include sensor channels, set sample rate or a timer and fully meet the requirements of your measurement task.

3 Operation Modes

Use Live Capture to transmit sensor insole data in real time or use Recording to store data on the sensor insoles’ on-board memory for standalone operation.

Smart Recording puts intelligence in place and triggers recordings when the user is active. This mode uses pattern recognition to start, stop and resume recordings.

Smart Recording

Timed Recording

The Timer stops on-board recordings automatically after the preset time has elapsed. Saves you time and avoids waste data for testing athletes in the field when many subjects are tested directly one after the other or when subjects move far away from the starting point.

Sensor Channel Setups

OpenGo Sensor Insoles allow you to collect the full range of motion data. But sometimes, you may want to save memory space, battery runtime or you just don’t need all information.

Choose from 3 common sensor channel presets or configure any combination of sensor channels individually.

MOCAP synchronization

Time synchronized motion analysis.

The OpenGo Sync Box helps creating time synchronized data readings whenever OpenGo Sensor Insoles are combined with other motion capture systems, such as body worn IMU sensors or video analysis.

The device connects to the OpenGo App for generating or receiving standard output and input signals, which can be used for synchronization.

File system & labeling

Data management
for your needs.

Keep your data organized with consistent measurement labeling right when data is acquired. Create use names, comments and tags to individualize your data management.

The onboard file system allows you to select one or multiple measurements for transfer and access to related information.

Wireless Data Transmission

The wireless data transmission from OpenGo Sensor Insoles to the mobile device uses intelligent handshake technology to avoid the loss of data packages, even when the connection quality is below 100 %.

Typical wireless range of the Bluetooth Low Energy connection in indoor settings is ≥ 10 m, in in-field settings up to 20 m.

Live Data

The live data preview runs at 25 Hz sample rate in a separate app service to avoid jittering during data acquisition. The independent and simultaneously operating data recording service can be set to any other available sample rate.

Sensor Setup

The OpenGo Sensor Insole (Insole3) computes 26 measurement data channels per left and right side each:

  • 1 time stamp channel
  • 16 pressure sensor channels
  • 1 total force channel (vertical)
  • 3 acceleration sensor channels (3 dimensions in space)
  • 3 angular rate sensor channels (3 rotation axes in space)
  • 2 center of pressure coordinates (lengthwise and transversal)

The time stamp channel is included in the measurement data by default. It contains time increments, according to the sample rate selected, as well as an absolute time stamp in the meta information from the time of measurement start. The left and right sensor insole data is synchronized by means of the absolute time stamp. The time synchronization is accurate to the sample.

If you don’t want to use the sensor channel presets, you can also manually activate or deactivate measurement data channels.

Data Management

The OpenGo Sensor Insole firmware runs a full scope file system on the on-board memory. This is where all measurements are stored and organized. This feature allows you to transfer selections of measurements to the endpoint computer without the need of transferring the entire list of measurements. It helps to perform plausibility checks or to obtain preview reports on particular measurements.
