Record Settings

Overview

The Record Settings window features all settings related to data acquisition.

To enter the Record Settings window, press the gear symbol in the Record section.

To enter the Record settings press the gear symbol (3) in the Record section.

The settings related to data aquisition are exclusively made in the Moticon SCIENCE Mobile App.

Record modes

There are three diffrent record modes available.

Live Capture

This record mode allows direct data transmission from the sensor insoles to the endpoint computer via mobile phone. Depending on the network quality and the performance of the mobile phone, real-time transmission is possible. The mobile phone has to be on the subject which is tested and next to the sensor insoles. No data is stored on the on-board memory of the sensor insoles in Live Capture mode.

The data is streamed via Bluetooth from the sensor insoles to the mobile phone and from the mobile phone via WiFi network connection to the endpoint computer. Both the Moticon SCIENCE Mobile App and the Moticon SCIENCE Desktop Software have to be used on the mobile phone and the endpoint computer, respectively. Stable wireless connections are mandatory to avoid mediocre data transmission.

Warning

Link loss results in data loss.

Info

If the network connection could not be established correctly you will receive a notification.
How to set up a connection

Recording

This record mode allows storing measurement data on the on-board memory of the sensor insoles. The data can be transfered to a endpoint computer afterwards for generating reports and enhanced data analysis. In this record mode, the mobile phone is only used for starting and stopping the measurement.

Info

No connection during the recording between the sensor insoles and the smartphone is needed.

Smart Recording

Smart Recording is an activity triggered recording mode where internal ´Čürmware algorithms control the intermediate pausing and resuming in action. The algorithm automatically detects active phases and is only recording data during this time. When no action is detected the sensor insoles pause the recording. The mobile phone is only required for starting and stopping, not for the recording itself.

For further details on the operation modes refer to the application notes on www.moticon.de/support.

Manual and Predefined Setups

The Channels window allows manual selection of sensor channels as well as selecting predefined sensor setups.

Warning

The channel selection directly affects the total recording time. The more channels you choose the less recording time is available. Please have a look at the maximal recording duration.

Manual Channel Selection

For manual sensor channel selection, enable "Manual channel selection". Enable or disable the sensor channels you would like to include or exclude for data acquisition.

26 Available channels

  • 16 pressure channels
  • 3 acceleration channels
  • 3 angular rate channels
  • 1 time stamp channel
  • 1 computed total force
  • 1 computed Center of Pressure in X direction
  • 1 computed Center of Pressure in Y direction

Predefined Channel Setups

Tap on one of the three predefined sensor channel setups to activate it.

Full Setup

This Setup includes all channels available. In this setup you get the most information.

Channels Full Setup

  • 16 pressure channels
  • 3 acceleration channels
  • 3 angular rate channels
  • 1 time stamp channel
  • 1 computed total force
  • 1 computed Center of Pressure in X direction
  • 1 computed Center of Pressure in Y direction

Standard Setup

The Standard Setup is the perfect balance between lots of information and size of the measurement and battery efficiency. This Setup includes the following channels.

Channels Standard Setup

  • 16 pressure channels
  • 3 acceleration channels
  • 3 angular rate channels
  • 1 time stamp channel
  • 1 computed total force
  • 1 computed Center of Pressure in X direction
  • 1 computed Center of Pressure in Y direction

Monitoring Setup

The Monitoring Setup is the most battery efficient and storage saving setup. It includes the following channels

Channels Monitoring Setup

  • 16 pressure channels
  • 2 acceleration channels
  • 3 angular rate channels
  • 1 time stamp channel
  • 1 computed total force
  • 1 computed Center of Pressure in X direction
  • 1 computed Center of Pressure in Y direction

Sample Rates

Four sample rates are available:

  • 10Hz
  • 25Hz
  • 50Hz
  • 100Hz

Choose between the four options by tapping on them. We recommend using 10Hz and 25Hz for slow motions. 100Hz is mainly used for high speed recording in sports.

Warning

The sample rate directly affects the total recording time. The higher the frequency the less recording time is available. Please have a look at the maximal recording duration.

Timer

The Timer function is available in the Recoding and Smart Recording modes only. This function will stop your data acquisition automatically after a predefined time has elapsed. No connection the the mobile phone is required after starting a timed recording.

  1. Tap on the "Timer" list entry in the Record Settings window to activate timed recording.
  2. A popup will let you choose the recording duration.
  3. Press OK to store the settings.

Recording Time

The maximum recording time is dependent of the sample rate and the selected channels.

Please find the maximum recording duration in each mode here in the Sensor Insole Product Specification.
