Berlin: German Congress of Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery 2017 (DKOU 2017)

The German Congress of Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery is widely recognized as one of the leading forums for exchange of cutting-edge research and knowledge in orthopedic and trauma surgery. This year’s congress in the Berlin Messe (October 24-27) was fittingly themed ‘Motion is Life’ and attracted over 11,000 participants from 50 countries, with 1,800 presentations. We would like to congratulate Dr. Benedikt Braun (University Hospital of Saarland, Germany) for presenting two excellent talks on fracture aftercare using Moticon sensor insoles. Moticon strengthened our clinical research presence through ad-hoc booth discussions with surgeons, researchers, and industry key opinion leaders. Our booth visitors learned how to seamlessly integrate Moticon sensor insole technology for in-clinic assessments and long term out-patient monitoring. Of note, visitors were impressed by the real-time weight bearing feedback app and the powerful report function with our non-invasive technology.

Cologne: International Trade Fair “Orthopädie Schuh Technik”

From October 20th to 21st the international trade fair and congress ORTHOPÄDIE SCHUH TECHNIK took place in Cologne. This biennial event is the most important international trade fair in Germany in the field of orthopedic shoe technology. All well-known companies of this industry were present, attracting more than 3900 people this year. Needless to say, Moticon wouldn’t miss this great chance to present our ORTHO sensor insole and to get in touch with orthopedic shoe professionals, who are interested in a new, wireless possibility to measure in-shoe plantar foot pressure distribution. Being a young, internationally acting company, we highly appreciated the increasing number of international visitors. Especially professionals from the Benelux countries with their excellent educational background in biomechanics showed great interested in our product as they are always looking for a quick and easy way to gather biomechanical data from patients.

Munich: Annual Meeting of the Educational Center for Orthopaedic Shoe Technology

Munich: Annual Meeting of the Educational Center for Orthopaedic Shoe Technology

Background:
The Bavarian guild for orthopaedic shoe technology formed an association to support science, research, education, and advanced training in this professional field. The members of this association meet once a year discussing urgent topics regarding orthopedic shoe technology.

OST 4.0- digital steps into the future:
This was the slogan of this year`s event taking place in the BMW-World in Munich. More than 200 members attended the event, including many CEOs from orthopedic shoe companies and Moticon. Henning Steiner, our sales professional for the orthopaedic market, took the chance to present Moticon’s ORTHO product line and showed how to measure foot dynamics completely wireless. It was a great opportunity to get in close contact with potential customers and to give them an idea about our manifold software features.
In a 2-hours workshop the next day, typical use cases for the orthopaedic shoe business were presented giving interested customers the possiblity to try out the system themselves. The attendees learned a lot about the benefits of a completely wireless foot dynamics measurement system and the handling of the Moticon software.

Chicago: Moticon to Help People with Knee Arthritis

Chicago: Moticon to Help People with Knee Arthritis

A study at Rush University Medical Center is testing whether Moticon sensor insoles can help people with knee arthritis!

The progression of osteoarthritis can be slowed down by putting less strain on the affected joints. By using the Moticon sensor insoles, researches from Rush University are monitoring the patients’ walking in their normal shoes and a pair of flat, flexible shoes that allow for natural foot movements for a six-week period. The patients will also be interacting with the sensor insoles’ data using a smartphone. After six weeks the researches will be able to see if and how participants changed the way they walked and if this led to improvements in their condition.

Athletic Trainer Conference 2017

Athletic Trainer Conference 2017

Moticon @ the ATK in Hennef, Germany!

The ATK is a very good platform to get in touch with professional and semiprofessional athletic trainers, so it didn’t take Moticon long deciding to attend this great conference. Apart from several presentations from well-known athletic trainers on prevention, rehabilitation and athletic training in general, the Sportschule Hennef also organized a one-day workshop with Dr. Tim Gabbett – a sports scientist working for 20 years with athletes and coaches from different sports now.

The conference was very well organized giving us the perfect opportunity to profoundly talk to interested prospects from the elite sports field and demonstrate Moticon PHYSIO’s highlights to them: Sensing in-field foot dynamics without cables, without limits! Unfortunately our PHYSIO product manager Pierre Widmann, an atheltic trainer himself, suffered from a ligament rupture a couple of days before the conference. But being profoundly convinced of Moticon’s advantages and making the best out of this situation, he seized the moment to showcase the system’s benefits for return-to-play rehabilitation therapy.
